icinga-demo.linuxfabrik.ch is our public demo instance where Icinga, Icingaweb 2, the Icinga Director and our Linuxfabrik Monitoring Plugins can be tried out live, with no local installation needed.
What runs on the demo instance
- Icinga 2 with Icingaweb 2 and the Icinga Director.
- The most recent Linuxfabrik Monitoring Plugins.
- Matching Grafana panels for most plugins.
- The Business Process Module for Icingaweb 2.
So that the demo is not boringly green, some services intentionally return WARNING, UNKNOWN or CRITICAL once in a while.

User demo, password demo. The instance is reset to the factory state every full hour: feel free to tweak, explore and break things. Changes can be made in the Icinga Director, but for security reasons they cannot be deployed.
What sets the Linuxfabrik Monitoring Plugins apart
The demo shows our Linuxfabrik Monitoring Plugins in real use: over 230 Nagios-compatible check plugins for Icinga, Naemon, Nagios and anything else that speaks the Nagios plugin API. Every plugin is a stand-alone CLI tool covering exactly one check.
- Sensible defaults: WARNING and CRITICAL thresholds are tuned so that plugins report something useful out of the box and only fire when it really matters.
- Auto-discovery: many plugins discover disks, databases, containers, cluster members or services automatically.
- Consistent cross-platform metrics: the plugins report comparable values and performance data across all platforms, including Linux, Windows, macOS and FreeBSD.
- Minimal dependencies: Python 3.9+ is enough. For Windows we ship pre-compiled binaries, so Python doesn't need to be installed on the target.
- Public domain: released under the UNLICENSE.

Good to know
- The Keycloak server runs in a container, and the Keycloak plugins query its API. That way plugins for complex applications are visible live as well.
- Reset on the hour: no worries if something gets stuck, after at most 60 minutes everything is back to the starting state.
