Due to the liblzma events since 29.03.2024, we were asked in a GitHub issue which versions of the liblzma library are used in our packages as well as the zip and tarballs.
Like last year we will be present at the (new) Icinga Summit in Berlin: On the second day we offer the workshop Write your own monitoring plugin in Python using the Linuxfabrik Libraries.
Release "2023112901" now contains over 200 monitoring plugins. What's new?
This primarily bugfixing release offers more than 130 plugins, 100 of which can be executed as EXE files under Windows.

For customers using Icinga for infrastructure monitoring: Icinga GmbH changed its business model a few weeks ago and put rpm packages for RHEL 8+, Amazon Linux and Suse Linux based operating systems behind a paywall. Access to the update repositories is now only available with an Icinga Repository Subscription. A paid Icinga Repository Subscription is required for 20 VMs or more, until then a free Developer Subscription is sufficient.

More than 160 check plugins in total. 25 new checks for MySQL/MariaDB, all based on MySQLTuner. 7 new checks for NodeBB. New checks for strongSwan IPsec Connections, diacos, xml/wsdl and Infomaniak Swiss Backup. And as always: bugfixes and enhancements.
As announced, we will stop further development of the Python 2-based monitoring plugins on 01/01/2022 and will focus only on their Python 3 variants from now on.

Dieses Release bietet mehr als 120 Plugins, von denen über 80 als EXE-Datei unter Windows ausgeführt werden können. Alle Plugins liegen ab sofort in einer Python 2- und Python 3-Version vor. Wie immer gibt es auch neue Checks, unter anderem für Jitsi, NodeBB, Redis und Veeam.
Mehr als 50% der Check-Plugins sind auf Python 3 portiert. Wir stellen die Pflege unserer Python 2-basierten Plugins zum 31. Dezember 2021 ein – spätestens bis dahin werden also die noch fehlenden ergänzt und migriert. Die Python 3-Varianten werden bereits wo sinnvoll und möglich auch für Windows compiliert angeboten (als zip-Datei).
Mit der neuesten Version unserer Monitoring-Plugins für Icinga, Nagios und kompatible Systeme lässt sich ab sofort auch LibreNMS überwachen (oder genauer gesagt: wenn es in LibreNMS einen Alarm gibt, bekommt auch Icinga davon mit).
If you implement infrastructure or application monitoring, you mainly care about three things: You want to have a fast and scalable core that queues check execution and manages state changes as well as notifications. You need a collection of check plugins. You might want to visualize performance data from the past or do some kind of trend monitoring.
In den letzten Monaten ist es im Blog ruhig geworden, da wir zusätzlich zum Tagesgeschäft eine Mission hatten: Unsere Monitoring-Plugins so zu perfektionieren, dass sie veröffentlicht werden können. Nach der Ankündigung auf dem letzten Icinga Camp 2019 in Zürich ist es jetzt soweit.
