IPv6 for repo.linuxfabrik.ch and download.linuxfabrik.ch

Better late than never: our package repository and the download server are reachable over IPv6. Hosts in IPv6-only networks get their packages directly, without NAT64 or a proxy.

What is reachable over IPv6

All services run dual-stack, IPv4 stays as it is.

• repo.linuxfabrik.ch: RPM and DEB packages, among them the Linuxfabrik Monitoring Plugins
• download.linuxfabrik.ch: source archives and downloads
• ip.linuxfabrik.ch: returns the public IP address of the calling host, over IPv6 its IPv6 address

curl shows whether your host takes the IPv6 path:

$ curl --ipv6 --head https://repo.linuxfabrik.ch/

What to check

Firewalls with rules per IP address. If you allow outgoing traffic to our servers by address, add the IPv6 addresses (excerpt):

$ dig +short AAAA repo.linuxfabrik.ch
$ dig +short AAAA download.linuxfabrik.ch
